Preparing for B

Ready or not, she's coming! 3 weeks in counting...I think we are all getting excited to meet her. We spent the weekend getting all the baby stuff out and preparing the nursery. TK tried to fit into her tub and let me know, that "it's too small for him". He loves to lay on my belly and feel her kick. Last night he moved over so B could "sit" next to him at the restaurant...

I look forward to TK being an awesome big brother. He's very excited and keeps asking when she can come out.

The other day he told me, "When B is out of your tummy and your tummy is not so big, you can do the monkey bars with me." Yes, mi amor, I can't wait to be able to do that! ;)

"I'm Homeschooled"

I don't think TK really knows what this means, yet. And, I am not sure how it's all going to work out down the road, with me working and homeschooling, but for now, I have enjoyed the times I do get to sit down and work with him. He loves doing all the fun activities planned around the different letters we are learning about (and I have fun preparing them!). [Thanks to coahbutton for all the awesome teaching materials!]

He loves telling people "I'm homeschooled!". Hopefully that enthusiasm will stay around. These are definitely "mom & TK special times". :)

Happy Father's Day!

What a privilege it is to know so many awesome fathers who love their kids so much. I am truly blessed to have 3 such men in my life:

My father: A man who stepped into a situation and showed true love when he didn't have to...I love you, dad...THANK YOU!

My father-in-law: A man who shows his love, regularly, through helping us in small and big ways, and regularly "checking in on us". We love you, Papa!

Lastly, but certainly not least-My husband: A man who desires to show God's love, daily, to our son and to be the best dad he possibly can. TK is so blessed to have you as his dad. I love you, Kris!

Happy Memorial Day!

I know it's a little late...but, better late than never!

Following in Papa's Shoes

TK adores his Papa...Even down to his smelly shoes!

Growing Up: Where did the time go?

Growing up is so hard to do! Hard for both mommy and child. As I got ready to leave for work Thursday morning I watched TK sleeping in his big boy bed, with his big boy underwear, and no blankies; and I felt so bad for "making" him grow up. Where did the time go? 3 years have passed so quickly, and now he's turning into such a little man.
I thought about giving him his blankies back and not pushing the potty training, but then I thought of him at 25, still sucking his thumb, smelling his blankie and wearing diapers, and figured I would stick to my guns...Being a mom is so tough at times! ;)

Time Away!

No internet, no phone reception, no television, video games, or movies. Nobody but our little family! What an incredible week! We finally got away...and it was wonderful. Lot's of time for just us. We were so blessed to be able to have use of a little cabin in TN for a week. (Thank you Christian Pastor Retreat!) We hiked, canoed, rode on a train, visited an old coal mine, sat on a LARGE tractor, petted horses, and just enjoyed each other's company.
If you ask TK what his favorite thing was, he'll tell you "Rock Candy on the Train!" For our 9th anniversary we rode a steam engine locomotive train into Big South Fork Park, it was a special day/week for sure!
